If a country has an independent and competent civil service, there would be checks and balances on the politicians (be they blue, green or red!) and the business community.

This trend has now permeated down to the corporate level, where the dividing line between ownership and management has gotten blurred; consequently we have witnessed many cases of compromised corporate governance. If this trend continues, there will be no difference between the conduct of politics and business! Time to ‘live’ true corporate governance, not putting on a show of awards!
