Aiming to promote awareness and understanding of Down syndrome and related issues, the Down Syndrome International (DSI) in 2006 declared the World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) for 21 March.

Kosala Dullewa Foundation (KDF), the first association to organise a WDSD celebration in Sri Lanka, in 2007 is planning to hold the 2013 commemoration, on Sunday 24 March 2013, at Royal College.

Rotaract District 3220 and the Interact Club of Royal College have joined hands with KDF in organising this year event.

The full day commemoration includes a classic car parade organised by the Classic Car Club of Ceylon for awareness, a medical camp for the children with Down syndrome, an art exhibition and a variety entertainment show, showcasing the talents of mentally and physically challenged people.

Children with Down syndrome who wish to participate in these events could be registered by calling the organisers on 0112626526, 0775850741, or 0773457260.

As the slots for the number of participants are limited, the organisers plan to do the registrations on first

come, first served basis. More information on the event would be provided during the registration process.
