Maliban Biscuit Manufactories Ltd., the premier biscuit manufacturer in Sri Lanka, came forth to celebrate Vesak, the most exuberantly celebrated Buddhist festival in Sri Lanka. Vesak highlights the Birth and the Enlightenment of Prince Siddhartha and the commemoration of Lord Buddha’s passing.

These projects included illuminations on the Galle Road in Dehiwala Vesak Zone organised by Danasiri Amarathunga Foundation, vesak pandols at the Bauddhaloka and Gangaramaya Vesak Zones organised by All Ceylon Buddhist Congress and Gangaramaya Temple in coordination with the President’s Office respectively. As such, since its inception the company has taken numerous social service initiatives. Whatever the project may be, we always adhere to our excellent quality standards in deliverance because we believe in giving the best to the society,” said Bandula Perera – Group General Manager (Human Resources and Administration).
Explaining about the programs in relation to Vesak celebrations, he said that the donation of 3,000 rice packets to devotees who visit Kataragama during the upcoming Perahera season is another worthy cause initiated by Maliban. A similar project will also take place in Anuradhapura during the Poson season, where 3,000 lunch packets will be donated to devotees; in addition to the Poson biscuit Dansala organised by the company at Mihintale.
It was the vision of late A.G. Hinniappuhamy, the Founder Chairman of Maliban, to ensure that the company engaged in social service activities.
