A medical clinic organised by Member of Parliament and Kotte UNP Chief Organiser Harsha de Silva was held free of charge in Obesekarapura recently. The clinic attracted over 150 children and 200 adults, where special medical needs of the low-income community were served.
Besides treating patients, the clinic provided counselling, patient education and blood sugar testing while prescribed medications were distributed free of charge.
Whilst organising the clinic with the support of his party members, De Silva pointed out that the massive turnout was a direct result of the inability of the lower income groups to spend on healthcare given the soaring cost of living.
