A special prize giving ceremony was held recently, to recognise the winners of the ‘Loku Wunaama mama’ art competition. This was held to coincide with the Union Assurance Higher Education Month.The Higher Education Month was an initiative organised by Union Assurance, in order to stress the importance of preparing for children’s higher education needs.
The Loku Wunaama mama art competition was organised by the company as a creative way to elicit and express the ambitions and hopes of children through a fun and colourful medium. The competition was open to children from 1 March to 30 April. The competition was adjudicated for three categories: Pre-school; Grade 1-3; and Grade 4-6. The winners in each category were awarded tablet computers and in addition consolation prizes were also given to 10 shortlisted candidates in each category.
A number of applications from schools and pre-schools island-wide were received. The winner in the Pre-school category was K.A.J. Shenuli Shehansa from Little Tots Pre-School, Rajagiriya; in the Grade 1-3 category, O.G.T. Sinali Ovitigama from Kumara College, Balangoda; and in the Grade 4-6 category, K. Savindu Migara Fernando from Maristella College, Negombo. The program was a tremendous success and received a number of accolades from parents who attended the prize giving ceremony.
The aim of Union Assurance is to build a foundation of ‘trust’, by guaranteeing the delivery of transparency, respect, and convenience towards all its stakeholders. Through the successful completion of the Union Assurance Higher Education Month, UA was able to emphasise the importance of providing ahead for your child’s education needs.
