UltraTech Cement Lanka Ltd., a leading cement manufacturer, has joined hands with the National CSR Management Project in an endeavour to conserve archaeological heritage sites and nature sites of Sri Lanka.
The project is a joint venture between the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Highway Development and Ministry of Social Welfare together with National CSR Management Project and is taken in an effort to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage sites. The Memorandum of Understanding between all parties was recently signed at the office of UltraTech Cement at Peliyagoda, Kelaniya.
“We are proud to be associated with the National CSR Management Project. Our culture and natural heritage are both unique and irreplaceable. It is our legacy from the past which we live in today and pass to our future generations. Therefore, it’s important that we know the value, protect and preserve these historical identities before it is too late,” said Kiran Redkar, Chief Executive, UltraTech Cement, Sri Lanka.
Fifty archaeological sites and 50 nature sites that have withstood the test of time have been identified to be a part of the project.
UltraTech Cement will be responsible in communicating the importance of environmental eco systems and its conservation at each of these sites.
