Sri Lanka Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry (SLCPI) donated 100 water tanks each with 1,000 litre capacity, worth Rs. 1 million, to the Ministry of Health to assist the people affected by the prolonged drought in the Polonnaruwa area.
The donation was officially handed over to Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena at an event held at the Ministry of Health recently.
The President of the Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Industry Colonel Chandra Jayaratne, Secretary Pradeep Edward, Past President Adrian Basnayake, Chief Operations Officer Dr. Samarakoon Piyasena and Manager Administration Maureen Peiris attended the event.
Speaking at the event, The President of SLCPI said that the Chamber took the decision to donate the water tanks in response to the open request made by the Minister of Health for the donors to assist the victims of the severe drought in the Polonnaruwa area.
