Sampath Bank successfully concluded a Year 5 seminar at far-away Padaviya on 22 June. It was held at the Ali Wanguwa Maha Vidyalaya, a remote rural school in an under privileged area, with the participation of more than 450 students from 22 schools of the region.
This was the first-ever Year 5 scholarship seminar held at Padaviya organised by Sri Lanka’s premier bank in collaboration with Neth FM.
The students were most appreciative of what they learnt and were self-assured that they will be able to face well at the examination. They considered it a timely event that encouraged them to face the examination with confidence. The parents were thankful to Sampath Bank for organising the seminar in a distant area where the children had minimum facilities to further their educational activities.
It was revealed that during the past, only a few students were successful at the Year 5 scholarship examination in the Kebithigollawa Educational Zone but this year the zone expects more winners as a result of the guidance received by the students at the Sampath seminar.
The bank conducted the Padaviya seminar as a CSR initiative under the theme ‘Education for Development,’ a key pillar in the 5E model of Sampath Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility domain.
