Sampath Bank CSR initiative ‘Emblem of Hope’ to awaken Navatkuli

Sampath Bank, the responsible banker of the nation, initiated yet another CSR initiative, called ‘Emblem of Hope’ in an attempt to awaken Navatkuli, keeping with the ethos of accomplishing the national needs of Sri Lanka.
The first step of the series of activities of the North-East reconciliation program was launched recently with providing two library units and constructing a children’s park so as to bring a smile to little children in Navatkuli.
“We are happy that the underprivileged children in this area are now able to spend their time inan environment-friendly surroundings to their heart’s content,” said Sampath Bank’s DGM – Marketing and Business Development, Tharaka Ranwala at the handing over ceremony.
In addition to the park, the Bank also provided adequate library facilities to the children of Navatkuli, just as they have done in Navatkuli sub office where a new library unit has been installed and also restored the one at the Chavakachcheri Urban Council. These were provided with computer facilities too.
These projects, while facilitating the under-privileged students and adults to improve their reading habit and also motivate them to engage in extra-curricular activities. As a good corporate citizen Sampath Bank believes this initiative will be a fulfilment of a timely requirement of under-privileged students and will definitely raise the bank’s standing among the community as well as government officials. The bank’s fervent belief is that these facilities will undoubtedly help them mentally and physically to work towards a bright future.
Sampath Bank’s Head of Deposits Thilak Abeysinghe, Sampath team members, officials of Pradeheeya Sabha, school children, teachers and parents were present at the official handing over ceremony.
Besides this initial step, restoration of Navatkuli railway station where the penultimate stop on the Yal-Devi route is another massive CSR effort of Sampath Bank.
Moreover Sampath Bank took various initiatives under the bank’s 5E CSR framework, including ‘Sampath Nena Saviya’ educational projects, ‘Sampath Saviya’ entrepreneur development programs, ‘Wewata Jeewayak,’ ‘Gamata Viduliya,’ etc. and Sampath Bank intends to pursue similar CSR initiatives today, tomorrow and into the future in order to strengthen its identity of being a Sri Lankan bank which truly presents the future of the nation.
