The annual fund raiser of the SAARC Women’s Association will be held on 14 June at the Women’s International Club, Guildford Crescent commencing 10.00 am and will go on till 4 p.m.
“The proceeds of the fund raiser will be channelled toward a noteworthy cause, the Cancer Transit Home, Maharagama, that provides shelter to thousands of cancer patients who otherwise do not have a place in which to stay when they come to Colombo for treatment at the National Cancer Institute. Many of them come from far off places, and in the past, they had no choice but to take the bus back to their homes as they had no place to stay, and come back the next day for further treatment. We therefore decided to donate the proceeds of the SAARC Family Fiesta 2015 toward the Transit Home that is a haven for cancer patients,” SAARC Women’s Association President Janaki Fernando, said.
The SAARC Family Fiesta is for the whole family and will have a tantalising array of food from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, a dessert corner, silver jewellery and classy costume jewellery, country stalls from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, designer clothes for the family, gift items, linen, and a range of other quality goods for the discerning buyer plus a stall selling miscellaneous goods, in addition to music, face painting and a bouncer for the kids.
Abans, an organisation synonymous with quality household products, will have cookery demonstrations while also offering a discount on the wide range of products they will have on sale at the event.
