Contemporary British motoring élan is to be showcased to the literati of Sri Lanka in the ancient Dutch bastion of Galle later this month at the Galle Literary Festival (GLF).
Two illustrious British writers will be among the eminent authors participating in the 2012 edition of the festival courtesy of Range Rover, a first-time Gold sponsor of this annual event.
Novelist Joanna Trollope OBE and playwright Tom Stoppard have been sponsored by Frontier Automotive (Pvt) Ltd., sole agent in Sri Lanka for Land Rover and Range Rover, in celebration of the arrival in the country of the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover’s sensational new SUV.
The multi award-winning vehicle, the smallest, lightest, most fuel-efficient Range Rover ever produced, will be much in evidence during the four-days of the festival, with plans to display it at several locations where visitors congregate.
“We feel that the audience at the Galle Literary Festival represents the type of driver that is attracted to the Evoque,” said Sheran Fernando, CEO of Frontier Automotive. “It is refreshingly new, yet timeless in design. It has already been hailed as a work of automotive art that will inspire a new generation of Range Rover enthusiasts.”
Range Rover branding will adorn the T shirts worn by the authors to events of the festival, and branded T shirts will also be on sale to visitors during the festival period, from 19th to 22nd January.

She was appointed OBE in the 1996 Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Tom Stoppard was born in Czechoslovakia, grew up in Singapore and India during the Second World War and moved to England in 1946.
