Prima Sunrise Bread to hold walk and carnival for World Health Day

Prima Sunrise Bread, with the objective of enhancing the nutrition levels of the Sri Lankan public, decided to organise a health walk and carnival on 10 April in celebration of the World Health Day.

The details regarding the walk and the carnival were revealed at the press conference which was held recently at the Prima Group Head Office in Rajagiriya.

The theme of the health walk and carnival was ‘Healthy Living’. It was also revealed that this event will prominently feature Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread, which is the product, within the Sunrise bread range that is mainly geared towards nutrition and health.

Speaking at the Conference General Manager, Ceylon Agro Industries-Prima Group Shun Tien Shing said: “As often with our busy lifestyles it is seldom that we find the time to pay attention to the food we consume, Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread a first High Fibre Bread in the market, offers an alternative and a first step towards healthier lifestyle.”

The proposed venue for the event is the Galle Face Green. It was also informed that the carnival will commence at 9 a.m. while the health walk is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. from Galle Face Green, Galadari Roundabout, Hilton Junction, Lake house Roundabout and back to Galle Face Green on the same route.

It was also revealed that the main highlight at the carnival will be a giant whole grain bread loaf which will be revealed and participants of the carnival will have the opportunity to sample it. In addition it was stated that a sandwich bar will be organised and the participants would be able to enjoy a variety of sandwiches made by a renowned chef at the location.

Prima also stated that several reputed organisations have showed support to this by their participation. These organisations include Nawaloka Hospitals, Body by Kris, Addidas, Flora Margarine, Anlene milk and Rotaract Club.

While these organisations will have booths to provide information at the carnival premises they will also conduct activities such as providing health checks, health tips, exercising tips, good food habits, introducing new exercise machines and several fun activities for both adults and kids.

Tan Beng Chuan – Group General Manager, Prima Group Sri Lanka – added: “As you all are well aware Prima was the first to launch value added bread to the Sri Lankan market over twenty years ago. Last year we re-launched this well loved brand, Prima Bread as Prima Sunrise bread.  We also have taken certain strategic decisions and plan to carry out several innovative and focussed activities in the future.”

Commenting about the Health Walk, Prima stated that several celebrities, athletes and athletic club members along with members of a community service club such as the Rotaract Club will also be invited to participate and give their support to this worthy event.

Prima plans to provide the participants, mainly the ‘health walkers’ with vibrantly branded Prima Sunrise Whole Grain Bread t-shirt and caps. The company hopes to attract a crowd of over 300 participants to the health walk and carnival. Extensive media coverage will be given for the event.

Prima Sunrise Bread which is enriched to perfection is available in five varieties, each with its very own distinctive taste and texture; the ever popular Premium Bread which is super soft, Whole Grain Bread that’s high in fibre, Whole Meal Bread with no added sugar, White Bread that’s high in protein for high energy and Crust Top Bread which is the ‘traditional bread.’
