People’s Bank Chairman Hemasiri Fernando inviting the Sangha for the chanting of pirith and CEO/General Manager N. Vasantha Kumar offering alms to the Sangha
Commemorating the People’s Bank 55th Anniversary, People’s Bank Buddhist Association, Hindu Association, Muslim Majlis and Christians Guild made arrangements to hold a series of religious programs at the People’s Bank Head Office.
The meritorious act organised by the People’s Bank Buddhist Association was held on 1 and 2 July. Under this, an all-night pirith sermon was held on 1 July and on the next day, an almsgiving ceremony for 55 priests was held.
Patron of the People’s Bank Buddhist Association, Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Chief incumbent of Peliyagoda Vidyalankara Pirivena, Dr. Walamitiyawe Kusaladhamma thero and the Chief incumbent of Colombo Fort Sambuddhaloka Viharaya, Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Pali and Buddhism, Professor Iththademaliye Indasara thero provided patronage for the series of religious programs.
A program for all the religions, organised by the People’s Bank Hindu Association, Muslim Majlis and Christians Guild, was held on 4 July. At this ceremony, the Hindu divine offerings were given by the Reverend Kurukal of the Bambalapitiya Srinivasan while the Islamic holy mass was conducted by Deshabandhu Rev. Kaari Faiszal Hassan Maulavi of Colombo Dawatagaha Jumma Islamic mosque and the Catholic holy mass was conducted by Fr. Rev. Nalin Suraj of Kongodamulla church in Katana District.
Corporate and Executive Management of the bank including Chairman Hemasiri Fernando, CEO/General Manager N. Vasantha Kumar, bank staff and some of the retired staff participated for these programs, which were held as a blessing to the country, people, customers as well as all the leaders who pioneered in establishing People’s Bank and former and present staff.
