OVIKLO International assists Sinhalagoda Vidyalaya for re-building

According to the event calendar of OVIKLO International, the company organises a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program annually to share portion of their profits for the development of the society. The company has implemented several CSR programs over the years in which the members of the society directly benefited. The company brings the same degree of innovation and passion to its community outreach programs, as it does to its business operations.

The company recently completed their annual CSR program successfully for the year 2017. Their CSR venture engaged in fulfilling the requirements of Sinhalagoda Vidyalaya – Madagalathura which was highly affected by the flood in May. The school consists of 189 students and 16 staff members. The school was highly damaged with two classrooms collapsing to the floor. All the laboratory instruments, home science equipment, school band musical instruments, sports equipment, stationeries were completely drowned in flood. The CSR team visited the school to identify the requirements after few days of the flood. They continuously communicated with the principal in order to provide the best assistance at the right time for the school.

OVIKLO re-visited the school with donations that are mostly needed for the operation of the school which included computers, printer, fans, sports items, home science equipment, stationeries, etc. The activities steered by CSR team were able to uplift the motivational level of the students.

Commenting on the OVIKLO International’s contribution to the Sinhalagoda Vidyalaya, school principal, Samitha Dharmadasa stated, “Our school is among the top schools in the region. Last year we achieved 85% results in the O/L examination. We still can’t believe the damage caused by the flood. Every time when I recall that incident, tears come to my eyes. Now we are at the re – building stage. We believe that we can bring the school back to the previous state. Because of the well-wishers like your company, we were able to start the operations of the school within few weeks after the damage. OVIKLO International communicated with us frequently to fulfil the needs of our school. These donations are precious for our school. These will be directly benefited for the development of our students. With the dedication of our staff & well-wishers, we were able to bring back the smile to our students’ faces. We are grateful to OVIKLO International for assisting us in this difficult situation.

Commenting on the recent CSR project, OVIKLO International Business Development Director Thushan Mahagedara stated, “Every year we organise a CSR program for the community. It is a norm which we are following for so many years. We, OVIKLO are always looking forward to give something back to the community for its development. As a company, today we are pleased as we were able to assist Sinhalagoda Vidyalaya to bring back to the present condition. All our staff members and the management worked hard for this. We continuously keep communications with the school to fulfil further requirements as well.

The program concluded with friendly volleyball matches between the students and the OVIKLO CSR team members.
