As a part of its commitment to motivate students towards academic excellence, NDBShilpa rewards its account holders who excel in the grade 5 scholarship exam with cash rewards. Account holders who are placed within the island’s top five rankings will receive Rs. 100,000, while those placed within an island ranking between 5 to 10 receive Rs. 50,000 and all those who pass with 180 points and above will receive Rs. 5,000 as a reward. Therefore, NDB has joined hands with Imashi Publications to roll out a series of educational programs for students intending to sit for the Grade 5 scholarship examinations.
The Grade 5 scholarship exam is perceived as a landmark hurdle by students and parents alike. Since the examination opens doors to students to qualify to enter esteemed national schools; it has also become one of the most competitive examinations faced by students. Having recognised such prominence placed on the examination, NDB together with ‘Chooti baba’ newspaper of the Imashi Publications have initiated a series of educational seminars to students of grades 4 and 5. 50 schools around the island have been identified for the programs. To ensure success of the endeavour, NDB has partnered with Imashi Publications a leading publishing company in the country with plenty of expertise in children’s educational publications.
The series was inaugurated at Science College in Mount Lavinia and Madagama Model School in Neluwa consecutively. The half-day sessions were preceded by Professor Preethi Kularathne. Program content is designed to inspire and stimulate the students to adequately prepare for the crucial examination, while conditioning their young minds for a winning attitude which would help them cope with the examination pressure. The educational session also offers insight and advice to parents on how to keep the children motivated and help them manage stress levels during preparation for the exam.
Taking a step further in its quest to build knowledge and share insight with children NDBShilpa has introduced a dedicated web resource www.shilpa.ndbdigital.com that aims to effectively cater to the young parents and kids of the digital age. NDBShilpa digital interface is a child friendly, interactive online resource which shares valuable information on themes such as saving, study tips good parenting, child nutrition, early childhood development etc. The digital resource also designed with edutainment features that will attract and engage with the tech savvy young ones.
