In celebration of Sri Lankan beauty and cultural values, Lux, the acclaimed beauty soap brand of multinational FMCG goods marketer Unilever held the grand finale of the Lux ‘Wasanthaye Ruwaththiya’ beauty pageant at Hotel Blue Water in Wadduwa recently.
The final round saw 24 final contestants between the ages of 18 to 24 vying for the ‘Wasanthaye Ruweththiya’, which was won by 20-year-old Rashmi Prabha, an up-coming model from Homagama with the prizes of Rs. 1 million worth gold jewellery and Rs. 200,000 worth in wedding saree sponsored by Saree Mandir. Malki Erandi, from Colombo emerged the first runner up while Lashoda Siriwardhane from Piliyandala secured the second runner up position.
The first phase of the second round of the pageant was held on 10 April where 24 out of 50 participants from various parts of the island, including Colombo, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle, Kurunegala and Ampara.
Chulakshi Ranatunga was adjudged ‘Miss Personality’ while Charuni Jayakodi was adjudged Miss Beautiful Skin. ‘Miss Photogenic’ title was also won by Rashmi Prabha, Nipuni Perera was adjudged ‘Miss Talent’. Contestants were taken to an elderly home without prior notice to select ‘Miss Inner-Beauty’ which was won by Dilki Randeniya from Ampara.
Wasanthaye Ruweththiya’, billed to be a beauty pageant with a difference, is the latest beauty property of ‘Lux,’ the brand that is committed to make women look beautiful and feel glamorous. ‘Wasanthaye Ruweththiya’ was judged by an eminent panel of judges consisting Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanath Jayasuriya, Ramani Fernando, Hemal Ranasinghe and Sharmila Bandara Marketing Manager- Skin Care, Unilever. As the preferred brand of international beauty stars, Lux is closely associated with a handpicked galaxy of glamorous women of the silver screen.
