Lankaputhra Development Bank takes elders and children to pay homage Somawathi Chethiya

Lankaputhra Development Bank as a community project took elders and children from Homes in the Polonnaruwa district to pay homage to the Somawathi Chethiya.
The elders and children who live in homes without the support of their loved ones were able to spend the day in worship. The inmates of the children’s and elders homes were provided food, drinks and gifts by the Lankaputhra Development Bank.
The staff of the bank together with the management participated to make the event happy and memorable to the children and the elders. The event was organised by the Polonnaruwa branch of the Lankaputhra Development Bank and was coordinated by Branch Manager Rahula Senanayaka.
Lankaputhra Development Bank Chairperson Kumudiniy Kulatunga said that the bank at all times will support such CSR projects. In 2011 the bank supported the renovation of the Abayagiriya Chethiya since the bank understands the importance of these projects.
The relics of Lord Buddha are among the treasures inside the Somawathi Chethiya kept by King Kavantissa’s sister Soma Devi and Prince Giri Abaya according to legends.
Lankaputhra Development Bank a fully fledged government bank was opened to strengthen the local economy by supporting the entrepreneurs of the country. The bank has initiated many loan schemes to support small and medium scale entrepreneurs in the country. In addition to the savings scheme for children with attractive interest rates, leasing and pawning services are also offered by the bank.
At present the bank has branches in Colombo, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Kegalle, Kandy, Wennappuwa, Trincomalee and Batticaloa. The bank is planning to open branches covering every district of the island to cater to the needs of our valued customers.
