Harpic provides mobile toilets for public during religious festivals

Harpic, the leading toilet care brand in Sri Lanka launched its latest CSR project – the Harpic Saneeparakshaka Sewawa – a fully-fledged mobile toilet facility at the recently concluded Vesak festivities.
Done for the first time in Sri Lanka, this project is aimed at providing hygienic facilities for visitors who throng to religious locations and will be found at upcoming festivals and ceremonies around the island over the next few months. This fully-fledged mobile toilet created out of a converted twenty foot container comprises six separate units which will be accessible to the public free of charge at locations frequented by pilgrims. As Sri Lanka’s leading toilet care brand, Harpic will be providing cleaning and maintenance of the unit during festival times.
“Harpic brand made a pledge to our large consumer base around the island that we would make Sri Lanka a hygienic and safer place to live in. The Harpic Saneeparakshaka Sewawa was launched as a part of this promise with the goal of providing clean and safe sanitary facilities to the devotees who attend these events,” said Tanzim Rezwan, Head of Marketing Reckitt Benckiser (Lanka) Ltd. “As a brand that has been synonymous with toilet care for so many years, we realized that this was something we had to do.”
The unit which was unveiled at the National Vesak festival in Buttala was later moved to the much frequented location at Navam Mawatha Vesak zone “This year, the footfall for the Navam Mawatha Vesak zone was over one million and the response to the Harpic Saneeparakshaka Sewawa has been tremendous,”
“Whenever such a large number of people gather, providing everyone with clean sanitary facilities is always a problem. So many large-scale religious festivals happen in Sri Lanka every year, and providing hygienic toilet facilities is essential. I thank the Harpic brand team and Reckitt Benckiser Sri Lanka, for facilitating this project,” said Chandraprema Gamage, Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs This project is being endorsed by the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs along with the Department of Buddhist Affairs. A joint press conference was held at the Department of Government Information last month unveiling the tie up with the Ministry.
The Harpic Saneeparaksharaka Sewawa is scheduled to appear at several key festivals in the next few months across the Island fulfilling the pledge of making Sri Lanka a hygienic and safer place to live in.
