Amal International School celebrated its 25th anniversary with large participation of students, teachers and parents recently at the school. Deshamanya Professor M.T.A. Furkhan graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Amal International School was established in 1991 as a project of Centre for Islamic Studies (CIS). It was the brain child of M.C.M. Zarook of CIS who serves still at the Board of Directors. Abdul Careem Dungra, who toiled hard to make it a reality by approaching various donors and philanthropists here and abroad, was also present at the Founders’ Day ceremony.
The ceremony had songs of the children from the school’s Primary Section and a special debate by the senior students. Colombo City Coroner Ashroff Rumi who is the present Chairman of the Amal Board of Directors and Principal M. Mohamed Shazuli also addressed the audience.
Chief Guest Professor Furkhan’s pledge to donate Rs. 1 million for the modification of the school’s computer lab was well-acclaimed by the school community.
