FITIS Hardware Chapter President Sudath Amarasinghe presenting the books
The Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) distributed school books amongst more than 200 students who lost their possessions in the recent devastating floods which inundated their homes in the Colombo North area. The ceremony to hand over the school stationery to these students was held at the Mulleriyawa (North) Kalathuwawatte Purana Viharaya. Agaya Holdings, Zillione Holdings, Cenmetrix and all member institutions of FITIS contributed generously towards this worthy cause.
FITIS Administration and Operations Manageress Chadika Yahampath and members of the staff, FITIS Hardware Chapter President Sudath Amarasinghe and Hardware Chapter Executive Member Indika Adhikari were amongst the large turnout present at the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion of presenting the books to the affected students, Sudath Amarasinghe said: “A sizable number of students lost their school books as a result of raging floods in the Mulleriyawa area. This loss dealt a severe blow to the education of these children.
“In such an unfortunate situation, it is the responsibility of an organisation to reach out to the affected students and do its duty by society in taking care of their needs so that these children can continue their education. “As a responsible organisation, FITIS, in partnership with its member institutions, has stepped forward to help these students in their hour of need. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all FITIS member organisations for their financial support to grant relief to these school children.”
“I would also like to thank the Chief Incumbent of the Mulleriyawa (North) Kalathuwawatte Purana Viharaya for his guidance to make this project a success. We are optimistic of extending more assistance to these students in the near future.”
