Three hundred students from Gampaha Yasodara Devi Balika Maha Vidyalaya visited the Lakvijaya Coal Fired Power Plant in Norochcholai recently. The students were taken on a two hour educational tour of the plant by the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) staff.
They were given the opportunity to view the coal yard, jetty, boilers and machine rooms with CMEC and CEB staff explaining how each area functioned to produce power at the plant. The students were hosted to lunch by the CMEC and the CEB staff, at the end of the tour.
