Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo hosted a Poson Dansala near the Gangaarama Temple on 23 June for the third consecutive year.
The Cinnamon Lakeside team comprised approximately 90-100 volunteers from all departments who gathered on the Poya Day to assist with the task of preparing and distributing meal packets. The associates began preparations early Sunday morning preparing 5,000 meal packets for distribution at the Dansala. The meal packets were cooked and packed by employees at the hotel premises.
The hotel’s kitchen staff took on the challenge of cooking a large quantity of yellow rice, dhal curry, brinjal moju and soya curry complimented with chili paste. A number of the hotel’s senior chefs contributed their expertise in tackling the formidable task.
The turnout for the Dansala was immense with distribution beginning at 6.30pm and lasting approximately an hour. Associates distributed a meal packet and a cup of yoghurt to each member of the public. The recipients included senior citizens, differently-abled people, parents and children.
Denis Gruhier, General Manager of Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo expressed his pride in the team. “We are delighted to note the overwhelming response we received from our associates. Gathering the volunteers required to assist in the cause was effortless.”
Staying true to the John Keells Leisure Sector Pledge “I Will Care” the project strengthened the employee’s team spirit.
The hotel hopes to return in 2014 with another Dansala and aims to exceed expectations and cater to a higher demand to satisfy the growing crowd.
