Children of Muthupalasa members receive scholarships from Unilever Sri Lanka

Unilever Sri Lanka, in order to pay a tribute to its prime dealers has awarded scholarships to children of the ‘Muthupalasa’ program members, for the third consecutive year.
Muthupalasa was launched in 2003 for the key wholesalers and retailers of Unilever Sri Lanka to build solidarity and promote loyalty. Awarding of scholarships to members’ children is materialised as one of the objectives of this program.
This year, six students who displayed exceptional skills at the year 5 scholarship examination were awarded scholarships worth Rs. 100,000 each.
Commenting on the scholarship award program, which was launched in 2011 under Muthupalasa, Unilever Sri Lanka Section Head, Financial Business Partner of Consumer Development Niroshan Jayasuriya said, “Our endeavour is to bring forth an ethical and virtuous society. It is our duty to build up a favourable atmosphere for a generation of children who are inheritors of future leadership. The sole aim of awarding scholarships is to remove obstacles strewn on their way to progress and be a guiding light to their success.”
Muthupalasa Project Manager Shalika Alahakoon, expressing his views about the program said, “Our paramount goal is to strengthen the existing relationships with our customers. Through this program both parties have been able to achieve considerable benefits. We launched this scholarship award program in 2011, for their children with a view of enhancing the benefits accrued to them. Through this innovation, it is our aim to be a tower of strength to the members of Muthupalasa.”
Students who received scholarships this time hailed from Galle, Elpitiya, Embilipitiya Veheragampitiya, Akurana and Anuradhapura. P.A.G.M. Lakshani, the mother of Divayanjali Sithara, a student of Elpitiya, Galle and ‘Muthupalasa’ scholarship recipient said, “Conferring a scholarship like this is a worthy act of inspiring children to study. It encourages them to further their education. The Muthupalasa program not only promotes our business activities but also gives us immense strength contributing to the betterment of family members.”
