Heroes come in many shapes and sizes and Ceylinco Life has chosen one segment – students that pass the Year 5 scholarship examinations – for special recognition under a new campaign.
The life insurance leader’s ‘Pranama Weerayo’ program is to present every pre-registered student that passes the examination, usually conducted in August, with a personalised certificate as a special form of recognition of his or her potential.
Additionally, pre-registered students that are placed within the top 10 island wide at the examination will win cash prizes of Rs. 25,000 each, the company said.
“The Year 5 scholarship examination is the first competitive national examination that a student faces in Sri Lanka, and we believe that recognising the value of passing it with an attractive certificate that proclaims the student a hero, could motivate recipients to continue to strive for academic excellence,” Ceylinco Life Director/Deputy CEO Thushara Ranasinghe said.
To receive a ‘Pranama Weerayo’ certificate and to be eligible to win cash prizes, parents of students sitting the examination will be required to register by visiting a branch of Ceylinco Life, meeting a sales officer of the company or by calling the Ceylinco Life Call Centre on 2461461.
Parents will have till end October 2016 to complete their registrations. Ceylinco Life will thereafter work with the Examinations Department to verify the results before producing the certificates and selecting the winners of cash prizes.
The company said Pranama Weerayo programme will also present an attractive gift to every passing student whose parents have purchaseda Ceylinco Life policy during the campaign period. If a policyholder’s child is placed within the top 10 students country-wide at the examination, Ceylinco Life will double the cash prize to Rs. 50,000.
The Pranama Weerayo certificates, gifts and cash prizes are to be presented in addition to the scholarships available to the children of policyholders under the Ceylinco Life ‘Pranama’ scholarships programme, which has to date rewarded 2,078 students who excelled at the Year 5 scholarship examination, the GCE Ordinary Level, the GCE Advanced Level and at the national level in sports, culture, arts, drama or invention.
