Certis Lanka Group which consists of five companies and has a staff strength of 8,600 employees named the year 2016 as the ‘Year of Human Resources Development’ under the tagline ‘Shaping People for the Future’ and also launched a ‘Medical and Distress Fund’ for the employees and their immediate family members in addition to the already existing numerous welfare schemes.
Even though having provided an extensive range of welfare facilities to its employees, the management on a concept of its Group Chief Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Vipul Hettige took a yet another bold step by launching a series of medical camps for employees over 40 years. This bold step was aimed at supporting their security officers, couriers, nurse aides and the other ground level staff to give them the much needed medical attention and care. The series of medical camps are to be conducted in Colombo and other major cities through their branch network. The medical camps with a series of checkups such as blood pressure, ECG, cholesterol and urine checks, fasting blood sugar etc. and along with a comprehensive eye clinic and donation of spectacles are lined up in this gigantic humanitarian project.
The first of these medical camps was held on 6 November, at the premises of the Certis Lanka Academy at No: 10, De Kretser Place, Colombo-04, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. where 250 security officers were given a great medical attention through the services of dynamic group of doctors who joined hands with Certis Lanka to usher in an absorbing environment with the theme ‘We Care’.
The Academy of Certis Lanka was converted in to a mini hospital with consultation rooms, ECG rooms, and laboratory rooms to facilitate the checkups. In addition eye tests were done by reputed opticians and spectacle orders placed. The management went on to the extension of providing medicine through a reputed pharmacy that was given a stall inside the academy for the issuance of prescribed medicine totally free of charge.
The management of Certis Lanka was even thoughtful of the long duration the employees have to wait until their turns for the consultation and checkups and arranged a series of entertainment and educative programmes through a giant LED screen which kept the candidates in a happy mood. All participants and the support staff were provided with lunch, snacks and refreshments. The spirit of camaraderie, the loving care and concern and the happy atmosphere that prevailed during the entire day of this medical camp no doubt will leave a memorable experience for all those who participated in this great humanitarian program.
