The Brandix Group has extended its support to the 2014 National Occupational Safety & Health Conference organised by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) as part of this year’s National Safety Week program.
This is the fifth successive year that Brandix is playing the role of Main Sponsor of the program and the seventh time overall that the Group is supporting events conducted for the National Safety Week initiative.
The theme of this year’s National Conference on 18 October is ‘Promoting Occupational Safety Health Culture in Sri Lanka’ in line with the theme of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for 2014.
“As a leader in apparel manufacture in Sri Lanka, the Brandix Group strongly supports the objective of developing a safety culture in the work environment,” said Suwan Perera, the Group’s Head of Risk and Control. “Our emphasis on minimising absenteeism, occupational diseases and accidents has resulted in significantly improving the Group’s productivity.”
The sponsorship cheque for the 2014 National Safety Week program was presented by Brandix to the Secretary to the Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations W.J.L.U. Wijayaweera.
“We appreciate the commitment of the Brandix Group to promote occupational safety and health,” said National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Director General Dr. Champika Amarasinghe. “The example set by the Group has inspired us to continue to raise the profile of the National Safety Week program.”
The pioneer of the concept of ‘total solutions’ in Sri Lanka’s apparel sector and a preferred supplier to some of the world’s top apparel labels, Brandix is accredited as Sri Lanka’s single largest apparel exporter. The Group is a benchmark and international award winner for eco-friendly manufacture and commitment to environmental best practice.
