To plant 100,000 saplings across the country as part of ‘Save the Environment’ activities
As part of the bank’s 75th anniversary celebrations Bank of Ceylon has organised an island-wide tree planting campaign to be held on Thursday, 20 November to save the environment. Looking forward as a responsible corporate entity, BOC has planned this campaign under three categories.
Under the first category, in each province a one kilometre strip of road side will be selected and chosen types of saplings will be planted and maintained for a period of three years. Secondly saplings will be distributed to school children in selected schools where BOC savings units operate to be planted jointly by bank officials and school children. Thirdly saplings will be handed over to customers of Bank of Ceylon through the bank’s branch network.
The main event of this program is scheduled to be held with the patronage of the bank’s Chairman Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama and General Manager D.M. Gunasekara.
