An opportunity to undergo free general health, eye and dental checks was provided to residents of Moratuwa recently under a community project of Asian Paints, the India-headquartered multinational coatings company.

The project conducted in partnership with the Lions Club (District 306 A1), included a blood donation camp, donation of spectacles and the presentation of stationery to needy school children in the area.

People who visited the health camp received free general health checkups and medicines, checks by eye specialists, opticians and dentists and lipid profile and blood sugar tests. ECGs were also arranged at a subsidised rate, the company said.

Participants were able to collect their diagnostic reports from the Lions Club Centre in Moratuwa two days later.

Staff of Asian Paints as well as residents in Moratuwa participated in the campaign to donate blood to the National Blood Transfusion Service (NTBS).

“This initiative reflects the commitment of the company to the needs of the community,” said Asian Paints Director/General Manager Joseph L. Pulikottil. “While the health camp benefited residents of Moratuwa where we operate and where most of our employees live, the blood donation campaign will benefit people all over Sri Lanka,” he said.
