The Sports Club of Asian Alliance Insurance together with the staff members of the company organized a project with the objective of uplifting the standards of two deserving schools in Kalutara and Kurunegala Districts recently.

Initiated under the unique CSR umbrella of Asian Alliance Insurance Sports Club, Palapitiyagoda Kusalagnana Kanishta Vidyalaya, Kalutara and Kuda Kowana Kanishta Vidyalaya, Kurunegala were selected for this project. Funds and provisions were collected from the employees of AAI by the AAI Sports Club. The enthusiastic efforts of the staff paid off as the collections exceeded the targeted budget.

The inaugural project under this unique CSR initiative was carried out at Palapitiyagoda Kusalagnana Kanishta Vidyalaya; over 75 staff members from the AAI Head Office as well as members of the Panadura, Kalutara and Horana Regional Distribution Offices participated at this inaugural event.

The parents and teachers, the Zonal Education Director and Assistant Zonal Education Director of Kalutara District joined the team to partake in the event. All the students in the school were presented with packages containing stationery, food items and books.

Additionally, AAI took the initiative to donate a computer and many items of furniture to the school, opening the path of new technology for students as this school did not have access to computers prior to this project. The AAI members and everyone who graced the occasion enjoyed a meal and fellowship with the students.

As a long-term initiative, the company organised a shramadana campaign where a complete renovation of the main hall was carried out whilst provision for electricity to the school was also arranged. Additionally, the Sports Club of Asian Alliance identified the basic healthcare requirement of the school and took the initiative to renovate and complete the toilet facilities for the teachers and the students, which was appreciated by all stakeholders of the school.

As an extension of this ongoing project, Kurunegala Kuda Kowana Kanishta Vidyalaya was visited by the members of the AAI family from the Head Office and the Regional Distribution Offices. The staff members were warmly welcomed by the students along with their teachers and parents.

The project was carried out successfully; the students were presented with stationery and food items and toys. In addition, a computer, teachers’ chairs and cupboards were gifted to the school.

Continuing the efforts of creating a positive atmosphere among the school children to continue their studies, Asian Alliance initiated a shramadana campaign in the school premises. Accordingly, the members of the AAI family extended their support by working together with the teachers, parents and students to give a facelift to the classrooms of Kuda Kowana Kanishta Vidyalaya.

AAI places steadfast and abiding value in nurturing the development of the next generation in order to mould young professionals. The company has contributed to this task through external programmes as well as through the educational system itself. It is with this objective in mind that AAI launched these two key events aiming to improve the educational facilities of schools that are in need of external support.
