After the procession ended, about 4,000 cups of Anchor milk were handed out to all the performers in recognition and gratitude towards their efforts
Anchor has shown its support for the Kandy Esala Perahera festival this month by providing free dairy nutrition to the performers and participants at the 10-day event.
Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka Marketing Director Roshan De Silva said this is the second year in a row that Anchor has sponsored the event.
“The Kandy Esala Perahera is a momentous cultural and spiritual event for all Sri Lankans and as a company that has been close to Sri Lankans for over 35 years, it is a privilege for us at Anchor to have this opportunity to be a part of it,” said De Silva.
This year’s festival was held with the Randoli Perahera seeing the participation of traditional dance troupes, officials of the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic) and other supporting performers who participated through the entire length of the procession, which travels around the breadth of Kandy. The hardworking performers range from the very young to seasoned veterans.
“We are privileged to recognise the dedicated efforts and commitment of every single performer and participant of the Esala Perahera,” he said.
