Over 300 kids celebrated the season with Anchor this December, when their Senehase Thilina Christmas Carnival was held at SOS Children’s Villages in Piliyandala and Galle. Together with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Swarnavahini and Derana, Anchor’s Christmas Carnival hosted a full day of fun filled activities and entertainment at each location. Kids at the Villages engaged themselves in numerous activities including face painting, train rides, a mini pool and bouncy castles. Dancing, singing, musical chairs, relays, and art competitions were also organised by the Anchor team, giving children more chances to play together and win. The Christmas Carnival featured the culmination of a year of activities under the Senehase Thilina umbrella, originally launching in April 2014 to reunite mothers working abroad with their loved ones in time for Avurudu season. More recently, Anchor conducted a special initiative to invoke blessings on the children of the nation, organising large-scale Kiri Amma Dane ceremonies held across the Western, Southern and Central Provinces. The team has also joined hands with diverse communities across Sri Lanka to celebrate key cultural festivals with diverse communities throughout the year.
