Alliance Finance celebrates Earth Day with active cooperation of employees

  In keeping with its commitment to sustaining the Triple Bottomline of People, Planet and Profit, Alliance Finance Company PLC mobilised its countrywide staff to mark Earth Day on 22 April 2014 with some meaningful initiatives to impact the environment. Earth Day, also known as International Mother Earth Day, is an annual event observed across the globe on 22 April, during which people engage in various activities in honour of the Mother Earth pledging to do something to protect the environment. Alliance Finance Company PLC Group Head – Business Development Ali Ahlam Nawaz commented on the occasion, “Departments and branches across the company joined hands to celebrate Earth Day 2014 by switching off electricity for half-an-hour from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at its head office and other branches on 22 April. This period was used to ponder on and discuss the far reaching impact of conserving electricity on the planet. The company aims to inspire awareness of and appreciation for earth’s resources. By leading the way in switching off electricity for half-an-hour, Alliance Finance hopes to create awareness of the need to conserve nature’s precious resources and use electricity mindfully.” The company has adopted the Triple Bottomline concept to reflect its sustainable approach to business and leverages on such internationally recognised days such as Earth Day to highlight its dedication to and support for nurturing Planet Earth. Earth Day was first celebrated in the year 1970 and is now celebrated in more than 192 countries each year. Every year on 22 April, over a billion people in 190 countries take action for Earth Day. From San Francisco to San Juan, Beijing to Brussels, Moscow to Marrakesh, people plant trees, clean up their communities, contact their elected officials, and more – all on behalf of the environment.  The theme of Earth Day 2014 is ‘Green Cities’.
