Every year Abans observe World Children’s Day by organising an outing for orphans and destitute children. This year Abans treated 25 orphan kids, between the ages of 6 and 15,    from Senarath Gunawardhana Child Development Centre in Dehiwala to an interesting tour of Colombo on Monday 6 October. On Monday morning the kids of the children’s home woke up to a slap-up breakfast hosted by Abans and by 8 a.m. and eagerly boarded the air conditioned coach that would take them on a guided tour of Colombo. The first stop was the Colombo Harbour where with the courteous and helpful assistance of the harbour security staff, the children were escorted round the harbour, where they found the harbour museum particularly interesting and also got a chance to worship at the harbour temple. The next stop was the Arcade at Independence Square where the children were fascinated by the grandeur of the magnificent building and the unique fish pond. They were served with light refreshments and then boarded the bus to proceed to McDonald’s at the Racecourse Complex for lunch. After an enjoyable meal and cool drink they proceeded to Victoria Park and thereafter Galle Face Green to enjoy the fresh air and the beach with refreshment. It was soon time for the kids to get back. Very reluctantly they boarded the bus again for the journey back. It was evident that the kids had a time of their lives and were taking back with them unforgettable memories of their day out with Abans They sang songs all the way back to the Children’s Home and were delighted when they were each presented with a gift pack. Abans extend their Corporate Social Responsibility to the community with regular projects such as this involving underprivileged children in various schools and children’s homes situated all over Sri Lanka. It is their simple way of showing gratitude for the confidence and trust that the people of Sri Lanka have in Abans and their world’s best brands.
