Union Assurance PLC (UA) has always being in the hearts of the people for over three decades and has always made its presence felt especially at the times of need.

With the COVID-19 crisis continuing to create unprecedented challenges to communities, UA has committed to protect the wellbeing of all its policyholders, staff and agency force and the communities they operate in, living up to the ethos of its brand, ‘Your Life, Our Strength’.

Continuing with its commitment towards the community, the second phase of the dry ration distribution was carried out from 28 April to 11 May to the communities out of Colombo.  The program was carried out together with the Government Medical Officer’s Association (GMOA). UA and GMOA shares a strong professional relationship, as result of this understanding GMOA brought forward this special project to reach out to children’s and elders’ homes, which goes unnoticed during a pandemic situation such as COVID-19.  These communities may need more help than many other communities during these difficult times as their regular modes of support may not come in when they are in actual need. Union Assurance General Manager – Distribution Senath Jayatilake sharing his views stated: “As a responsible corporate citizen, we are glad we were able to help the elderly and children homes who are dependent on others for care and support during this challenging time. We are thankful to GMOA for their support and also to our internal teams for coming forward to coordinate the program.”

The dry ration distribution was carried out at elders’ homes and children’s homes in the Uva, Southern and North Western provinces. Under this project 650 persons were benefited within the aforementioned areas. GMOA’s role as an intermediary was extremely helpful to ensure the essential items were channelled to the most deserving parties at the right time in different parts of the country.

GMOA Welfare Sub Committee Convener Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa stated: “I am grateful to Union Assurance for coming forward to contribute for this worthy cause during this difficult time. We appreciate UA teams’ efforts in coordinating and making arrangements to distribute the rations to different parts of the country. Union Assurance being a responsible corporate, we look forward to partner with them to carry out similar projects in the future.”

UA has always been in the hearts of the people for over three decades and has always made its presence felt especially at the times of need.
