A Bodhigara (Bodhi tree shrine) funded by the CHEC Port City Colombo Ltd. for a sacred Bo sapling from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya was recently planted by President Maithripala Sirisena. The newly enclosed Bodhi Tree is located at the Saranath Dhamma Nikethanaya in Bhathiya Mawatha, Kalubowila, where a ceremony took place to open it to devotees. The occasion was held under the aegis of Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thero, Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Maha Nikaya. A large number of devotees and chief incumbents of temples attended the ceremony. The Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patalie Champika Ranwaka was also present along with CHEC Port City Colombo Ltd. Managing Director Jiang Houliang.
The construction of the Bodhi tree enclosure which cost approximately Rs. 2.5 million was funded by CHEC Port City Ltd. Special sermons were preached by the Chief Prelate of the Saranath Dhamma Nikethanaya, Ven Elamaldeniye Sarananda Thero and Ven Prof. Naimbala Dhammadhassi Nayaka Thero. Minister Ranawaka also addressed the gathering on this occasion.
