Pan Asia Bank comes forward to improve facilities at 2 healthcare institutes in Kurunegala

Completing yet another project under the Pan Asia Ban’’s island-wide CSR initiative for 2018 to improve facilities at identified hospitals, the North Western regional branch of the bank conducted two CSR projects in the North Western region. 

The first was at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and the second was at Suwamadur” Dental Clinic, Kurunegala.

The two establishments are of great importance in the region: The Kurunegala Teaching hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the country serving over 60,000 internal patients and over 300,000 external patients annually. Comprised of 65 wards, the hospital employs 500 medical doctors and over 1,400 nursing staff to serve this large number of patients. Under the CSR project at the teaching hospital, the ban’’s staff members refurbished and painted the childre’’s ward (Ward 19), painted all steel furniture in the ward, partitioned the doctor’’/nursing staf’’s rest room, donated storage cupboards for the war’’s use, and donated quality chairs for the consultation area.

The“‘Suwa Madura” dental clinic in Kurunegala comes under the purview of the Provincial Health Department of North Western Province, and is the largest dental institute in the province with 10 dental doctors and 20 nursing/support staff members. Over 75 patients are treated daily for dental requirements. The Regional Dental Surgeon is also based at the institute  At the Suwamadur” Dental Clinic, the staff members refurbished and painted five dental clinic rooms, fixed steel racks for the store room, repaired name boards, and donated a“‘Scalar” machine to the clinic.
