Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery, a company at the forefront of the Sri Lankan jewellery industry, engaged in its regular CSR activity of cleaning up Wellawatta beach recently.
An exemplary activity highlighting the importance of keeping the environment clean was successfully carried out in collaboration with the Wellawatta Police, the Rotaract Club of Wellawatta and the Interact Club of St. Peter’s College.
The beach clean-up was conducted on 1 December along a stretch of the Wellawatta beach, with around 75 participants from Nithyakalyani and the general public joining hands for this worthy initiative which was appreciated by many.
Commenting on the annual CSR activity, Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery CEO A. P. Jayarajah said: “In an era when global attention has been unprecedentedly focused on environmental protection and the corporate sector is targeting sustainable development, we also engage in environmental clean-up activities. Just like in 2018, many people supported us in cleaning the beach. Beautiful stretches of beach are an invaluable asset to Sri Lanka. Thousands of foreign tourists come here to experience the beauty of our beaches every year. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to keep the beaches clean and beautiful.”
