National Savings Bank (NSB) has come forward to extend a helping hand to the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks in some of the Catholic churches.
Accordingly, NSB, on behalf of the staff of the bank, offered financial aid from the funds allocated for this year’s Vesak Bhakthi Gee program and other related activities. This donation was made to Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
On behalf of the bank, Chairman Jayaraja Chandrasekera, GM/CEO Dhammika Nihal Perera, President of the Buddhist Society of the bank Jeevani Gunasekera, President of the Christian Association of the bank Christeen Jesudian, Marketing DGM Lal Karunathilake, Chief Welfare Manager Ranjith Gunathilake, and a group of officials representing all the unions took part in the occasion.
Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith stated at the occasion that it was of paramount importance to help the victims who have suffered economically and mentally due to this incident, and appreciated the humanitarian assistance from the bank.
Chairman Jayaraja Chandrasekera stated that with regards to interreligious and interpersonal co-existence, NSB has set an example, and that it was very important to unite for a proper cause, irrespective of our race, religion or party politics.
