Essential medicines handed over to the Director, Deputy Director and Consultant Psychiatrist of the Teaching Hospital Kurunegala by the Regional Manager and team of NDB Bank North Central Region
The theme of 2022’s World Mental Health Day, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is ‘Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority’.
National Development Bank PLC (NDB) under the ‘NDB Cares’ theme and with the objective of mobilising the efforts in support of mental health, donated a stock of essential medicines to the Psychiatric Ward of The Teaching Hospital Kurunegala. The medicines were handed over to the Teaching Hospital Kurunegala Director Dr. Chandana Kedangamuwa, Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. M. Sumanathissa and Deputy Director Dr. Sandamali Samarakoon. Dr. Sumanathissa thanking NDB said, “The bank has responded to an urgent need which arose with the current financial crisis. The Kurunegala Teaching Hospital is the third largest hospital in Sri Lanka providing free tertiary care services especially for the less privileged people in the country. With the prevailing crisis obtaining essential medicines has been a challenge. Essential medicines are those that satisfy the priority healthcare needs of the population. They save lives, reduce suffering and improve health. Therefore this donation by NDB Bank is of great value to the patients.”
