NDB Bank recently donated a high quality ‘Air Disinfectant Unit’ (ADU) to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
The Unit was handed over to Deputy Director General of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka Dr. W. K. Wickremesinghe, by Vice President NDB Legal Melody Wickramanayake and Senior Manager Privilege and Privilege Select Banking at NDB Prasanna Jayawardhana.
This Disinfectant Unit from Sweden uses Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour, which is highly effective for disinfecting room air, furniture and other articles ,and is safer for human beings than any other form of purifier. Thus making it safer for the medical staff who work at the hospital.
The ADU will be installed at the ‘Specimen Lab’ which has been set up to specifically test suspected COVID-19 cases. This virus has demonstrated the capability to spread rapidly, leading to significant impacts on the medical staff engaged in testing, and thereby disrupting the healthcare systems in place. Therefore, if the area is not disinfected, doctors and nurses are vulnerable to infection. If infected they have to be quarantined, which impedes the day-to-day operations of the hospital and is also detrimental to patients in this time of crisis.
NDB has also made several other initiatives to ensure that the public is as safe from the COVID-19 pandemic as possible. Additionally, as a part of the bank’s CSR initiative it recently donated funds for Fully Automated Nucleic Acid Extraction and PCR Systems - a vital machine that helps conduct medical tests faster.
NDB Bank, which is the first and to date the only corporate in Sri Lanka to officially be certified with EDGE Certification (Economic Dividend for Gender Equality) is a premier retail bank with over 113 branches across the island, serving millions of Sri Lankans through a host of financial services.
