With the relaxation of the curfew, the YMCA Moratuwa, following health regulations, distributed essential dry ration packs and infant milk powder to a batch of parents with malnourished children identified in collaboration with the MOH Office – Moratuwa. The YMCA is arranging to proceed with another batch very shortly.
Before the COVID-19 outbreak, the YMCA – Moratuwa commenced a monthly paediatric clinic in collaboration with the MOH Office Moratuwa, where 25-30 malnourished children under five years, are examined by a Consultant Paediatrician (Member of the YMCA) on a voluntary basis, assisted by the Public Health Midwives and the YMCA staff. The prescribed infant food, infant milk powder and medicine, as the case may be, are distributed by the YMCA.
With the drying up of its main income streams derived from hiring the indoor premises, badminton courts and the pool table as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, the YMCA appeals to obliging benefactors, to assist it to continue with these community welfare and development programs.
