King’s Pavilion, in a commemorative act to pay respect to the victims of the Easter Sunday bomb attacks, held a ceremony with the lighting of oil lamps to remember and invoke blessings on our citizens as well as tourists killed, those injured and the loved ones left behind. It was held at Hotel King’s Pavilion, Kandy on 21 May, to mark the one month anniversary of the tragedy.
Mayor of Kandy Kesara Senanayake and former Mayor of Kandy Mahendra Ratwatte, King’s Pavilion Managing Director Dinesh Fernando, the staff, and invitees were present at the event. Religious dignitaries representing the Buddhist clergy, Hindu, Roman Catholic, Christian and Muslim religions took part in the proceedings, in a unified expression of love and compassion towards our fellow citizens and tourists affected. Prayers were offered by all the religious representatives and were followed by an alms giving for lunch.
A bodi pooja pinkama was also held at the sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa, a historic place of worship befitting the remembrance of the Easter Sunday tragedy, which will go down in history as an attack against the sanctity of religious worship and innocent tourists visiting our motherland.
