Sri Lanka’s leading cement manufacturer, INSEE Cement, the company behind household names such as Sanstha Cement, recently donated COVID consumables towards the national fight against COVID. This is in addition to many extensive initiatives already undertaken by the company.
The supplies were officially handed over amidst a small ceremony, conducted at INSEE’s Innovation to Industry Collaboration Space (i2i) Auditorium, adhering to strict health guidelines. A stock of 40,000 face masks and 1,800 bottles of hand sanitiser, along with a consignment of face-shields were handed over to the Provincial Governments, further 15,000 face masks, 250 bottles of hand-sanitizer and a consignment of face-shields were presented to the Central Government Technical Officers’ Association. Senior officials representing the Central Government, the Provincial Governments and INSEE were present at the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Executive Vice President/Sales, Marketing and Innovation Jan Kunigk said: “At INSEE, we believe in building for life. Part of that core ethos is supporting our communities and the Nation. As a responsible corporate citizen, we have undertaken numerous initiatives to assist the fight against COVID-19. However, as it is an ongoing challenge, we believe that we have a moral obligation to continue to do our part. Thus, we have made arrangements to provide the authorities with vital tools that can help prevent contagion and ensure workers safety.
“As construction is an essential service, Technical Officers and others were working throughout the restrictions. Thus, we felt we could help these essential workers to stay safe as they continued with their duties. Within the company , we have taken every reasonably measure to ensure the safety of our people and communities, and we look forward to the day when we can all emerge from these unprecedentedly challenging times, together.”
