The Hambantota International Port (HIP) is doing its part in the ongoing fight against the pandemic in Sri Lanka and donated essential items to selected State organisations in the Hambantota District. The State entities which received supplies last week included the Zonal Education Office, the District Secretariat, Regional Director of Health Services Office and District General Hospital Hambantota. The Zonal Education Office received disinfection and personal protective equipment such as hand spray machines, boots, rubber gloves, face shields, paddle type sinks, and paddle type dustbins for the use of school students.
The District Secretariat was provided with PPE kits, KN95 face masks, surgical masks and sanitiser bottles to safeguard frontline Government health officials engaged in coping with the rise in numbers testing positive for the virus on a daily basis.
The COVID-19 Treatment Ward at the District General Hospital Hambantota was supplied with consumables, lunch sheets and papers, as well as a computer and printer to ease administrative/clerical work. Equipment for the new COVID-19 Hospital in Angunukolapalassa was handed over to the office of the Regional Director of Health Services.
“Our CSR team has been diligent in carrying out these projects and we intend to continue supporting the Hambantota community during this time,” said HIPG Senior General Manager HR and Admin Jeevan Premasara.
The donation items were handed over by HIPG CEO Johnson Liu, HIPG CFO Raymond Mu, HIPG COO Tissa Wickramasinghe and HIPG General Manager Commercial and Marketing Lance Zuo to the respective Government officials.
