Emjay-Penguin carries out series of medical camps to mark International Elder’s Day

Apparel manufacturer Emjay-Penguin, which was established in 2005, carried out a series of medical camps recently under its Athwela CSR program to mark International Elder’s Day. 

The medical camps provided medical aid and assistance to the elderly and communities spread across Kurunegala and Kandy. Emjay-Penguin, Teldeniya held its medical camp at Teldeniya National School. The Teldeniya District Base Hospital was the main sponsor of the initiative and a medical team comprising 20 consultants volunteered their services. The elderly relatives of Emjay-Penguin, Teldeniya employees and Teldeniya residents received free medical check-ups, consultations and medication. 

Similarly, the second medical camp was conducted by Emjay-Penguin, Pallethalawinna at the Kandy Model Primary School in collaboration with the Divisional Hospital, Jambugahapitiya and Asiri Hospital, Kandy. Residents of the Pathadumbara Divisional Secretariat and the elderly relatives of Emjay-Penguin, Pallethalawinna employees benefited from the medical camp. Twenty-two medical consultants volunteered their services. 

The third medical camp of the series organised by Emjay-Penguin, Panwila was held at the Madulkelle Sri Subodharama Temple, which was fully sponsored by MOH Panwila. Twenty medical consultants volunteered their services and the medical camp was open to the residents of the Panwila Divisional Secretariat and the elderly relatives of Emjay-Penguin, Panwila employees. The fourth medical camp, which was fully sponsored by the Kurunegala District Medical Services Department, was organised by Emjay-Penguin, Karandagolla. The medical camp was held at the Meegahathenna Sri Bodhirajaramaya Temple and a medical team comprising 20 consultants volunteered their services. The residents of the Karandagolla Divisional Secretariat and the elderly relatives of Emjay-Penguin, Karandagolla employees were able to obtain medical aid and free consultation. 

Emjay-Penguin conducts various CSR projects under their Athwela program to aid the livelihood of the community which lives in close proximity to factories spread across Kurunegala, Kandy and Payagala. The aforementioned CSR projects include blood donation camps, book donations for schoolchildren, tree planting campaigns, donations to schools, hospital career guidance programs and environment cleaning projects. Above all, Athwela focuses mainly on improving the water and sanitary facilities of schoolchildren.
