In its standing as a responsible professional body, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) continued its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drive by upgrading the libraries and other facilities at two rural schools in the Anuradhapura District.
The two schools which were benefited by the CA Sri Lanka CSR project this year were the Ganthiriyagma Mahinda Maha Vidyalaya and Hiripitiyagama Primary School.
At the official handing over ceremony which was held recently under the patronage of CA Sri Lanka President Manil Jayesinghe and Vice President Sanjaya Bandara, the Institute handed over fully fledged libraries complete with large reading tables, chairs, cupboards as well as reading material for the benefit of the students at both the schools.
CA Sri Lanka also donated a Smart TV for the science room and sports equipment for the special education care unit at Ganthiriyagma Mahinda Maha Vidyalaya which has a population of 2500 students.
The handing over ceremony was made colourful by the students who welcomed the CA Sri Lanka officials including its Secretary Prasanna Liyanage and staff members by singing songs and performing dance acts and dramas. The student population at Hiripitiyagama Primary School is 568 students.
The latest CSR project was organised to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Institute. Over the years, CA Sri Lanka has been organising regular projects to uplift the living standards of society.
The CSR projects are an important event in the institute’s annual calendar.
