Workshop on ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System Standards

Ind-Expo Certification (Pvt.) Ltd, will hold a workshop on ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System Standards from 30 to 31 March, 2011 at the Plastic & Rubber Institute, Rajagiriya

Indo Expo Certification is a nonprofit making certification organisation, established by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) and the National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) of Sri Lanka with the assistance from United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) under its project “Strengthening the International Certification Capacity in Sri Lanka” with the assistance of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The workshop is designed to impart knowledge in Food Safety Management System stipulated in ISO 22000 standard and its application and will be ideal for those who deal with food safety and quality, working in Food Processing Industries and Hotels and Restaurant.

Contents to be covered at the two-day workshop include Introduction to food safety; Basis of ISO 22000 standards; Standards requirement; Management responsibilities; Planning & realisation of safe product; Validation, verification & Improvement of food safety management systems; Implementation of food safety system based on ISO 22000; Benefits and Certification process.

Resource persons include a qualified lead auditor for ISO 22000 who has held a senior position in a public sector organised with many years of experience in Management System certification including FSMS and a senior lecturer in Food Science at University of Peradeniya, and a National Consultant of UNIDO in ISO 22000 FSMS.

“It’s a known fact that the food safety has become a global concern, as the accepted food safety standards are not been adapted and implemented in the organisations where food is handled, which has resulted in serious food borne illnesses among the consumers. ISO 22000 FSMS has paved the way for food establishments to demonstrate that they are adhering to internationally accepted procedures in making and handling food. Therefore considering the necessity of imparting knowledge on the standard, Ind-Expo has scheduled a series of training programmes, on ISO 22000 FSMS,” the organisers said.
