Over the last decade, air pollution has increasingly become a serious threat to the environment and public health and has become an alarming global issue. Countries like China and certain parts of America are experiencing significant adverse effects of air pollution. “We have experienced changes in the weather patterns around the world over the past few years. These should not be ignored. We must adopt practices in our everyday lives which support a sustainable future,” noted LAUGFS Holdings Limited Chairman Wegapitiya, speaking about the importance of maintaining air quality and minimised emissions. In Sri Lanka too, this is a fast encroaching situation. Although the issue of air pollution has not struck as yet in the level that it is causing health issues in other countries, it is the action taken today that will mitigate adverse outcomes of tomorrow.
