Waters Edge unveils official project office for mega mixed development project

Untitled-2The inauguration of the mega mix development project of Waters Edge hotel in Battaramulla, commenced with the opening ceremony of the official project implementing and monitoring office on 24 February.

The launch was held with the blessings of President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Champika Ranawaka.

Keeping in line with traditions the Chief Guests including 

Chairman Chamath de Silva, the Board of Directors and Waters Edge General Manager Rohan Fernandopulle, along with their hospitality and project administrative teams, participated in the lighting of the oil lamp followed by a simple religious ceremony. 

The signing of the official document was done by the newly appointed Director of Projects Kumar de Silva followed by an inspiring speech by the Chairman. 

“This is the first phase of our vision to transform Waters Edge into a $500 m revenue generating entity by 2030,” said de Silva  

The investment of Rs. 13 b to build a 5-star mega property inclusive of 182 hotel rooms, 75 serviced apartments and 125 residencies with luxury amenities and state-of-the-art conference and convention facilities.

In addition, Waters Edge will also construct a massive sports complex of 12 acres, hosting 40 different sports to induce community wellbeing. 

Director of Projects Kumar de Silva is a veteran in the industry, with over 45 years of experience as a civil/structural engineer. “Although it was said that the building will take three years, I can positively say that we will be able to finish a lot sooner,” said de Silva, who has spearheaded many remarkable buildings including the sacred Kalutara Bodiya.

This project is only the beginning of vast expansion under the Megapolis vision of Ranawaka.

A project of such scale including the sports centre will undoubtedly prove to be a profitable venture providing avenues for uplifting lives and creating a source of commercial and community value.
