Vietnam businessmen keen on investing in Sri Lanka

The Sri Lanka – Viet Nam Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held a number of one to one business matchmaking sessions between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka at the recently concluded Sri Lanka – Viet Nam Business Forum.



This event coincided the visit President of Viet Nam Truong Tan Sang and a high powered business delegation from Viet Nam that included a number of senior ministers such as Viet Nam’s Deputy Prime Minister, Vice Minister of Defence, Vice Minister of Industry and  Trade, Vice Minister of Planning and Investment, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vice Minister of Public Security, Vice Foreign Minister, Minister of Finance, Vice Minister of Science and Technology and also the Vice President of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. President Ton Sinh Thanh Vietnam Ambassador to Sri Lanka was also present at the event.

The delegates met with a number of Sri Lankan business people and expressed their interest in setting up joint ventures for deep sea fishing, agriculture, processing of fish especially inland fishing, construction of hotels, apartments/housing projects, establishment of a Vietnamese Restaurant in Colombo, manufacturing of agriculture equipment, telecommunication services, etc. They were also interested in tourism projects such as eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, inbound and outbound travel, airline, banking and shipping services. The delegates also wish to expand trade activities for products such as cement, fertiliser, canned fish, construction material, high breed rice, plastic products and electronics. The Business Forum was conducted in association with the Embassy of Viet Nam in Colombo, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of External Affairs.
